Making my splash art

This is the picture I have decided to recreate in black and white:

I first began by cropping the picture so there wasn't as much background in the picture. I then drew the characters right arm followed by the gun they were holding.

Then I drew the characters body using longer strokes of the brush to help create a smooth line for the curves.

Next I drew the left arm and gun using a thicker brush for the outline and thinner lines for the details such as holes and lines to make the objects look 3D.

After I had finished that i began to draw the characters face, Again I used a thicker brush for the outline then a small brush for the details such as the eyes, mouth and nose.

Once I had done the face I started to recreate the hair of the character, I decided to use a tool on Photoshop that created different weight of ink flowing from the brush depending on the pressure that the user is applying to the pen and tablet. I used this to create smaller lines within the main hair area to show the wind blowing through it.

I then began to draw the left leg and shoe followed by the right, I filled in the shoes to make them look like a solid object.

This is the end product, If I had more time I would of added more detail in the dress and possibly begin drawing some of the background.

To add a bit more definition to my splash art I chose a small brush tool that looked quite faint (soft) when i used it. I chose to create a shadow effect to make the picture look a little more three dimensional.
