Research for my logos

I needed an idea to create a logo so I did some research on Google images searching for simple logos, and well know logos, I found many different logos some that I knew.

Some looked like they had been made up from many different shapes and were based on one theme colour.

Others show exactly what the name of a company is or what the company is best known for.

Some may show the initials of a company or brand.

I decided to use separate shapes with colour that contains a section of text in the middle.

My final designs

I have chosen the deign below to develop as it is one of my better logos and I can make many variations on it. I have chosen this as it was simple to create and looked different as I used various textures, colours and sized shaped.

My first variation of this logo can be shown below. I decided to rotate the shapes to

Now that I had found a shape I needed to think about what colours I could use and work well together
Eventually I decided to use the original three colours for each shape.

The logo was nearly complete all it need now was some various text in the center, this could be a company name etc.

As my logo still looked a little plain I added some textures to the shapes i put in earlier.

I have chosen this as it was simple to create and looked different as I used various textures, colours and sized shaped.

I have chosen this as it was simple to create and looked different as I used various textures, colours and sized shaped. If my logo does not look good on my splash art I may modify it some more.

I decided to change my logo at the last minute as it seemed to clash with my splash art. The shape and colours of the logo seemed too harsh with the black and white splash art.

I have come up with a mission statement of Fine Design as it sounds professional and reflects the aim of my work. I came up with this mission statement by thinking about what other company's use as there mission statement.

Making a logo

I decided to create a logo that was simple but stood out. I decided to use photo shop to create a logo as i would be able to familiarize myself with some of the tools that are available. To create my logo I will use the shapes tool and edit the size colours and textures of them to make them look vibrant. I also had to make a logo that followed the specifications that I have written in another post. "what should a logo contain" I used a piece of software called Photoshop to create my logo as it is a bit of software that is widely used in the industry and has all the possible tools I would need to create a logo.

Making my splash art

This is the picture I have decided to recreate in black and white:

I first began by cropping the picture so there wasn't as much background in the picture. I then drew the characters right arm followed by the gun they were holding.

Then I drew the characters body using longer strokes of the brush to help create a smooth line for the curves.

Next I drew the left arm and gun using a thicker brush for the outline and thinner lines for the details such as holes and lines to make the objects look 3D.

After I had finished that i began to draw the characters face, Again I used a thicker brush for the outline then a small brush for the details such as the eyes, mouth and nose.

Once I had done the face I started to recreate the hair of the character, I decided to use a tool on Photoshop that created different weight of ink flowing from the brush depending on the pressure that the user is applying to the pen and tablet. I used this to create smaller lines within the main hair area to show the wind blowing through it.

I then began to draw the left leg and shoe followed by the right, I filled in the shoes to make them look like a solid object.

This is the end product, If I had more time I would of added more detail in the dress and possibly begin drawing some of the background.

To add a bit more definition to my splash art I chose a small brush tool that looked quite faint (soft) when i used it. I chose to create a shadow effect to make the picture look a little more three dimensional.

What is splash art?

What is Splash Art?
Splash art is any sketchy/cartoon artwork designs that are found on websites or in comics. Many designs include bright neon like colours and are often comic like action shots.

Some examples of splash art:

As you can see these pictures are full of many colours and are both shown as action shots. The detail of the flames and hair in both pictures are very sharp and recognizable.

Inspiration of my splash art

I chose my splash art design as it had many different detailed outlines that I had to trace to create a sharp looking outline of the original splash art. I used different sized brushes on photo shop when tracing different parts of the splash art, i used a smaller brush for the detailed parts and a thicker brush for the main outline of the body. I have decided to just draw the body and guns without colour as it will be very time consuming to complete everything and match the gradient of colours, I have decided to make my splash art in black and white as I had research some work from an artist called Cliff Chiang. He has created many different black and white drawings of super hero's and much more, he used different brush strokes to create shadow effects or drew characters at an angle to make them look  three dimensional.
